The PFM line just got bigger! This moisturizer is so good, there was no other choice but for it to join the serum. This is a medium-weight, retinol-free anti-aging moisturizer for sensitive skin. There is bakuchiol to stimulate skin cell turnover for a bright, fresh complexion; carrot cells to soften and protect skin; teprenone to even out skin tone, and a peptide active to promote wrinkle reduction through skin cell turnover. You will love how soft and smooth your skin feels after using it! This is a great product for daytime moisturizing, as it does not contain retinol, which breaks down in UV. It is available in a 1.7 oz size, and comes scented with an orange blossom scent, or fragrance free.

INGREDIENTS EXPLAINED:
Cetearyl alcohol (and) Ceteareth-20: This is the emulsifier in the formula. An emulsifier is a compound that is able to bind to both polar and nonpolar molecules in a solution. In skincare, an emulsifier is what holds the oil and water phases of the formula together. There are lots of different types of emulsifiers, with different properties. This particular emulsifier is what is known as an ‘oil in water’ emulsifier, because it emulsifies a small oil phase in a larger water phase.
Carrot Cells: Intact isolated cells of fresh carrot roots that are rich in water-soluble and fat-soluble nutrients. Carrot cells are rich in mineral salts such as potassium and magnesium, and vitamins. Because there is a high concentration of beta carotene in the cells, they are high activity antioxidants.
Teprenone: Terpenoid that provides anti-ageing and protective effects against stress, by telomere stabilization and DNA maintenance. It provides improvement of tissue quality by optimizing cell communication, and rebalance of cell metabolism. The result is a reduction in the appearance of aging skin via improving dehydration, age spots and ineffective barrier function. In clinical studies, teprenone improved skin moisture and the appearance of rough skin, fine lines, enlarged pores and redness.
Mushroom peptide: Peptide extract from reishi mushrooms. Reishi mushrooms contain two of the most powerful antioxidants in the skin, ergothioneine and reduced glutathione, which prevent premature aging and free radical formation. Mushroom actives have been found to restore moisture loss and fight fine lines and wrinkles. This peptide works to reduce crow’s feet wrinkles & roughness for a smoother and younger looking skin and it repairs dermal degradation and prevents oxidative & cellular damage caused by aging, UV, environmental stress, pollutants.
Prickly Pear Butter: Made from the prickly pear cactus, this butter is rich in Vitamin E and amino acids, which promote collagen production that promotes improved skin texture. It also contains Vitamin K, which is known to enhance skin elasticity. This butter can repair, soothe, and regenerate skin damage.
Black Goji Butter: Butter made with Black Goji polysaccharides. Black Goji-based polysaccharides are known for their potent antioxidant capacity that helps shield the skin against free radical damage.
Hibiscus Oil: With naturally gentle alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) and a high Omega-6 Linoleic Acid concentration, hibiscus oil keeps skin moisturized, and is ideal for dry, flaky skin. Rich in flavonoids, carotenoids, and tannins, hibiscus oil acts as a potent antioxidant, helping to protect the skin against environmental and oxidative stresses.
Tomato Seed Oil: Tomato seed oil contains antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, as well as a high concentration of the antioxidant lycopene, Vitamin E compounds, linoleic acid, phytosterols, and carotenoids help to smooth and soften skin, improving the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and age spots.
Cetyl esters: This ingredient provides ‘slip’ to the formula, allowing the product to slide more easily across skin. It also acts as a thickener.
Cornstarch: This ingredient acts as a thickener in this formula.
Acetyl Hexapeptide-8: As we age, the progenitor cells in the basal layer of our skin slow down epidermal regeneration resulting in the signs of aging such as wrinkles, roughness, and lack of smoothness. This peptide helps reduce those signs by modulating microRNA145 to promote epidermal self-renewal and cell proliferation.
Shea butter: One of my all-time favorite skincare ingredients! This butter is obtained from the karite tree, and it’s also a great source of antioxidantsand skin-nourishing fatty acids (stearic and linoleic). It also penetrates skin readily. This is just such a wonderful ingredient for skincare.
Bakuchiol: Bakuchiol is a compound extracted from the seeds of the Psoralea Corylifolia plant, and has been shown to have retinol-like activity in skin. It stimulates skin cell turnover almost as well as retinol, and has also been shown to increase collagen production, which is super important for aging skin.
Tocopherol: Tocopherol is Vitamin E, and acts as a preservative in this formula, preventing the oxidation of the oils in the product and increasing the shelf life.
Gluconolactone (and) Sodium benzoate (and) Calcium Gluconate: This is the main preservative in this formula. It prevents the growth of bacteria, mold, fungus, yeast, etc.
Fragrance: This is the scent that is added to the product. Fragrance oil manufacturers are not required by law to disclose what compounds are in their fragrance oils. However, some will tell you what is NOT in their fragrance oils, and I base my fragrance oil purchases on this information. I make sure my fragrance oils are free of phthalates and known carcinogens. Because fragrance may be a source of irritation in a product formula, I offer all my products fragrance free as well as scented.
EDTA: EDTA is a metal ion chelator. This means that it scours the solution for metal ions, and once it finds them, it binds them very tightly, which makes them no longer a danger. Metal ions are highly reactive molecules that can cause oxidative damage to proteins, lipids, and DNA in cells. They are known to cause allergic reactions in skin, and generate inflammation.
