You can throw away your Coty Airspun talc-filled powder now, I have made a finely milled, highly effective Setting Powder that is 100% talc-free. No asbestos in my products, thank you very much! In all seriousness however, MANY powders available commercially contain talc, a powder ingredient that unfortunately is frequently contaminated with asbestos. Because companies are not required to test their ingredients for safety, the talc is never tested for asbestos before it becomes a cosmetic product. Inhaling asbestos fibers can kill you, but first it will make you really really sick. Mesothelioma is not a cute look. Check your powders, blushes, and eyeshadows for talc, and if they contain it, throw those products away. They are dangerous.
Back to my Setting Powder though. This product will absorb oil and reduce shiny skin, it will set your makeup to keep it looking fresh all day, and it is THE BEST product for baking your undereye area. Instead of talc, I use a proprietary blend of blurring agent, rice powder, and several different micas. Currently, I am only offering it in Translucent (no color), but as pigments become available, I will be able to add versions that match the foundation shades.

INGREDIENTS EXPLAINED:
Dimethicone/vinyl dimethicone crosspolymer (and) silica: Unique wrinkle-masking silicone powder with silica-treated coating. It blurs wrinkles considerably, and absorbs sebum to reduce shininess.
Rice Powder: finely milled powder made from rice. It is very effective at absorbing oil to give skin a matte appearance.
Matte Base Powder: a complex of titanium dioxide, mica, and magnesium stearate that adds slip to the formula, allowing it to move across skin more smoothly.
C-SMAX Powder: Sericite mica treated with carnauba wax. This vegan powder has a wax coating that helps bind particles so the formulas are less ‘flyaway’. The wax also keeps the mica from changing color as it absorbs oil and helps eliminate the typical shine on the surface of the mica particles.
Nylon-12: Nylon-12 provides shine reduction, a silky feel to skin, and is able to expand and contract with facial movements without filling in small lines, creating a smooth appearance. It also gives products a silky texture and better slip. It can also scatter light to blur fine lines while letting enough light through so that the skin still looks natural.

I have been using this powder for years as both a drag performer and for everyday use. My daily makeup look tends toward “vintage pallor” and this powder helps. Also works nicely to dry my face for work after I ride my bike to commute! I trust the safety of the ingredients, more than I can say for drug store brands.

Fantastic product! For decades I put powder over concealer under my eyes to keep eyeliner & mascara from migrating down. But as my skin began to age the powder accentuated the small lines that were otherwise barely visible, made the skin look dry, and added 10 years to my appearance.
