It was only supposed to be a seasonal sugar scrub, but everyone loved it so much, I made it a full-time product! The Peppermint version of my fantastic sugar scrub family is minty and invigorating. It makes a wonderful foot scrub! Like all of my sugar scrubs, it is solid in the jar, rather than a lump of sugar sitting in a bunch of oil like most sugar scrubs. This one will never spill and cover your entire bathtub in oil. Instead, it will gently exfoliate your body while deeply moisturizing skin. Follow up with one of my body butters, and you won’t even recognize your own skin!
NOTE: This product is not intended for use on the face. Sugar crystals have sharp edges, which can tear delicate facial skin. Body only!

INGREDIENTS EXPLAINED:
Organic sugar: I use a blend of organic cane sugar and turbinado sugar in my sugar scrubs to give you a thorough and effective exfoliation.
Shea butter: One of my all-time favorite skincare ingredients! This butter is obtained from the karite tree, and it’s also a great source of antioxidants like quercetin, epicatechin gallate, gallocatechin, epigallocatechin, as well as skin-nourishing fatty acids (stearic and linoleic). It also penetrates skin readily. This is just such a wonderful ingredient for skin.
Stearic acid: This is the emulsifier and thickener in the formula.
Hazelnut oil: A deeply penetrating oil with skin tightening properties.
Sunflower oil: I love, love, LOVE sunflower seed oil! It’s really great for dry, dehydrated, or otherwise compromised skin because its linoleic acid content helps skin to make its own lipids, including ceramides, which are critical for proper barrier function. Sunflower seed oil also has a natural soothing effect on skin, making it great for reducing skin irritation.
Ricebran oil: This oil is a medium-weight emollient, in that it doesn’t absorb as quickly as say, jojoba oil, but it also doesn’t stay on top of the skin as long as the heavier oils like avocado or pomegranate seed oils. It has potent antioxidant activity. In this formula, it is acting as an emollient.
Peppermint essential oil: This essential oil is in the formula for the cooling effect that comes from applying peppermint oil to the skin, and for its intense peppermint scent.
Peppermint flavor oil: Flavor oils are scents that you taste. Even though you won’t be eating your sugar scrub, this flavor oil, when combined with the peppermint essential oil, makes the perfect pepperminty scent.
Tocopherol: Tocopherol is Vitamin E, and acts as a preservative in this formula, preventing the oxidation of the oils in the product and increasing the shelf life.
