Night Creams

In general, night creams are heavier, more moisturizing products than serums, gels, or lotions. The name is a bit of a misnomer however, as you can use them during the day if your skin needs extra moisturizing.

NOTE: if your eye or night cream contains retinol and you want to use it during the day, be sure to use sunscreen because retinol breaks down and becomes inactive when exposed to UV. For those of you with combination/oily skin, you may find that your skin doesn’t need a night cream at all, especially during warmer months. That is totally fine. Do not let anyone tell you that you ‘must’ use a night cream. If your skin is more combo/oily and you want to use a night cream, keep in mind that not all oils are created equal. An anti-aging night cream is likely to be made with heavy, rich oils, as most skin gets dry when it ages. If your aging skin is NOT dry, using anti-aging products may overload your skin and cause breakouts. Look for anti-aging products made specifically for oily skin, as they will contain the proper oils for your skin. My NEW 20 NIGHT CREAM is my anti-aging night cream made for drier skin types, and contains retinol, centella asiatica extract, and hyaluronic acid. My CITY SKIN NIGHT CREAM is for combo/oily skin types and contains retinol, centella asiatica extract, hyaluronic acid, and two actives to reduce skin’s sebum production. The oil profile is much lighter, as I use a bit of shea butter and mostly jojoba and grapeseed oils.
